ADVOCACY
ON CHILD RIGHTS
The activities
of ISDCM are primarily aimed and actively focused on the Rights of the Child.
In its all development programmes / projects Child Rights issues are being
discussed and advocated in regular group meetings, meetings of NGOs, Union
Parishads, Upazila Development Committees and other fora as and when opportunities
available. ISDCM field staff were intensively oriented on Child Rights to
do the job effectively. Child Rights week was observed with the participation
of Government officials, Public representatives, Group members, Community
leaders, Teachers, Imams, and Marriage Registrars etc. in Natore, Naogaon,
Singra and Syedpur. Prevention of child marriage, birth registration, prevention
of child labour, abuse of child etc. was the main issues of discussions.

As part of advocacy for Child Rights a good number of meetings were organized which was participated by different categories stakeholders and the beneficiaries. Although, impact of such advocacy meetings has not been evaluated / studied but it was observed that as a result of these meetings there was decreasing trend in early marriage and birth registration got spontaneous response from the people at large.
